I’m not going to get into small-picture nit-picking about the names and dates of individual techs or the starting castles of minor counts. So I want to draw out some elements of historical societies that I think CK3 expresses well, and some where I think it stumbles a bit. You are here for me to talk about the history behind the game. If you like the sort of games Paradox puts out, Crusader Kings III is probably the best they’ve done in delivering on a core concept.īut you aren’t here for my game reviews.

So as a game, for just pure fun, it works. The addition of fully-body avatars (in place of portraits) for the characters and the new stress system move the actual gameplay and experience forward in important ways. As a game, Crusader Kings III is clearly a tremendous success and a marked improvement over its predecessor. It should be in this preference order: any province you have with more than 1 castle, any province with more than 3 holdings, or the highest legalism progress you have.Now from the beginning I should note that this isn’t a game review.

  • Choosing a capital Now that you personally hold every county in your realm, you should decide which to make your capital.
  • Dropping Dead Weight In getting rid of your crappy/high intrigue courtiers who now hate you, you have 2 options - you can matrilineally marry them off (not available for Muslims), which I like to do with the high intrigue ones since attempting to imprison them may just end up having a high intrigue guy in another court doing not….
  • If you can wait before executing your reign of … If you have sufficient piety, go all the way down to baronies.

    If your neighbors are eyeing your land, do this on day 1, before they evaluate your strength and decide whether to attack you.

  • Reign of Tyranny Start a reign of tyranny in which you imprison all vassals and seize all their titles.
